Hey, kids! Play the ancient video games your parents keep telling you about – or aging gamers, relive a bit of console nostalgia.

On Saturday, Nov. 27, the Surrey Museum is hosting a Video Game Play Day, a hands-on event devoted to the phenomenon's early years.

Try your hand at Atari 2600, Intellivision and the Colecovision, which, in one early version, actually required uploading the video game from a cassette tape before you could actually play Q*bert or other games.

The play day comes with a warning: E.T. for the Atari 2600 – widely considered the worst video game of all time – will be available for play.

Space is limited. Pre-register by calling 604-592-6956. From 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. All ages, by donation.
