Four Surrey-area girls are among dancers who’ll step to the stage in Goh Ballet’s production of The Nutcracker in Vancouver next week.

The seasonal show will be performed five times from Dec. 21 to 23 at Queen Elizabeth Theatre, a new home for the company this Christmas.

The Sergeant sisters – Isla, 6, Teagan, 8, and Kylie, 10 – will hit the stage, along with Mackenzie Hebein, a teen.

The Sergeant sisters train at Newton’s Central Dance Academy (formerly known as Flora Pigeau Dance Academy), which is owned and operated by their mother, Tyra Sergeant. Mackenzie has also danced at the studio.

In June, Kylie flew to New York City after being accepted into The School of American Ballet as a summer-intensive student — the youngest of all 40-plus attendees.

This year, Goh Ballet’s 10th-anniversary production of The Nutcracker includes an “interactive VIP experience” that gives ticketholders access to pre- and post-show activities, including backstage photo-ops and tours. Ticket and show details are posted at gohnutcracker.com.

“Experience Clara’s dream come to life as she embarks on a magical journey through the Land of Snow to the Kingdom of Sweets where she is greeted by the enchanting Sugar Plum Fairy,” says a post on the website. “An unforgettable adventure awaits as her gallant Nutcracker battles the evil Mouse King and his army of mischievous mice.”

Principal dancers Devon Teuscher and Alexandre Hammoudi, of American Ballet Theatre, in the roles of Sugar Plum Fairy and Cavalier Prince, will join a cast of more than 250 dancers from across Metro Vancouver, with choreography by Canadian choreographer Anna-Marie Holmes, an Emmy Award winner.

Under the baton of Leslie Dala, the Vancouver Opera Orchestra will bring Tchaikovsky’s iconic score to life.

“This year is set to be our most memorable production to date,” said Chan Hon Goh, the show’s executive producer, in a release. “For the thousands of families in the Lower Mainland that return to our show and make our production a key part of their festivities, they will be transported on a magical journey like Clara, seeing a dream come to life. We hope our heartwarming holiday classic will usher in the joys of the winter season.”

At Queen Elizabeth Theatre, show times are at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 21, at 2 and 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 22 and 1 and 5 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 23.
