1. Friday night (March 31) sees the return of the funny people of Vancouver TheatreSports League to Centre Stage, the venue at Surrey City Hall, for another night of improvised laughs. The troupe’s interactive “Comedy Unscripted: Improv with a Twist” show hits the stage starting at 8 p.m., with audience suggestions serving as a starting point for the comedy. 2. Get to know Surrey-based artist Bev Ellis at the next Thursday Artist Talk, a monthly event hosted by Surrey Art Gallery Association, on April 6 in a 90-minute session that starts at 7:30 p.m. Ellis, who strives to find beauty in the "raw and flawed," will share her artistic journey around this theme and how it is embodied in her current work. Many of her sculptures, paintings and prints are based on trees. “I’m a huge nature lover and my ideas circled around trees,” Ellis notes. “I didn’t understand what that meant. I knew trees were different from one another, but I discovered it was their flaws that made them lovely.” Ellis is also a ceramic sculptor and jewelry designer whose work can be viewed online at Bevellis.com. It’s “Seedy Saturday” time again April 1 at South Surrey’s Historic Stewart Farm, where the annual celebration of heirloom and endangered plant varieties happens from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Seeds will be for sale, and people are invited to bring their own seeds to exchange.
