The family of a Surrey woman who was reported missing more than a week ago held a news conference at Surrey RCMP headquarters Wednesday morning to appeal to anyone “with any information at all” to come forward.

“We know she would never leave us behind,” daughter Cindy Cheng said.

Cheng said her mom, San Li Liao, 54, was last seen by her family on Thursday, May 25, and they know that she was at her workplace, in the 14900-block of 54A Avenue, the next day.

They reported her missing on May 29.

Cpl. Scotty Schumann said extensive steps have been taken in an effort to locate Liao, including extensive ground searches by Surrey Search and Rescue.

Liao’s family found her vehicle, a green Toyota Sienna, behind the Guildford Recreation Centre on May 29.

Schumann said Liao was known to frequent the centre, so it “wasn’t peculiar that her car was there.”

There “wasn’t anything untoward about the vehicle,” he added.

Schumann said while Liao has gone away for short periods of time before, it is out of character for her to not contact family.

“Here we are now at Day 12, and that is unusual,” he said.

Liao is described as five-foot-one-inch Asian female, 110 pounds, with a thin build, shoulder-length brown hair and brown eyes. She wears glasses.

Cheng described her mom as “the pillar of our family.”

“It is very upsetting for us to imagine possible outcomes,” she said.

“Her safe return would mean the world to our family, because without her, our family will never be complete.”

Anyone with information on Liao’s whereabouts is asked to contact Surrey RCMP at 604-599-0502, or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or www.solvecrime.ca, quoting file number 2017-50389.
