SURREY — Spring break is here — what are you doing with your kids?

In Surrey, parents have a number of options to keep their children busy when school isn’t in session, until Monday, March 27.

• The city’s parks and rec department offers more than 30 “unique” spring break day camps for kids aged three to 18. Themes include Fun Zone, Time Machine Travellers, Leadership Camp, Creepy Crawlies, Forest Adventures, painting, basketball, swimming and skating. Details can be found online at Surrey.ca/culture-recreation/8052.aspx, or dial 604-501-5100.

• “Get the kids away from the screen and devices and in touch with real life,” says Urban Safari Rescue Society, host of a camp designed for young animal lovers. The five-day camps include activities, crafts, games and some hands-on activities with animals at the South Surrey facility. Call 604-531-1100 with questions, or email info@urbansafari.ca.

•In Guildford, Landmark Cinemas is doing a “Movie March Break” promo from March 13 to 24, with $3 admissions on select family films, including “Fantastic Beast and Where to Find Them,” “Monster Trucks,” “Monsters vs. Aliens” and “Puss in Boots.” Each patron will also receive coupons for special offers from Landmark and Boston Pizza, and $1 from each admission will benefit Kids Help Phone. And in case you missed it, the big movie house is now filled with only power recliners for seats. Visit Landmarkcinemas.com for more info.

•With Surrey Museum set to become a construction zone later this spring/summer, “Under Construction” sessions are happening there. “Play in our dig site, build structures with straws, complete a scavenger hunt in the museum’s galleries and make construction-themed crafts,” say planners of the event, open Tuesday to Friday during the two weeks of spring break. Call 604-592-6956 for info.

•At Historic Stewart Farm, it sounds like they need help to clean the place. “Spring Cleaning” sessions during spring break are described as follows: “Beat the rugs, sweep the verandah, and wash the clothes – it’s spring cleaning time at the Farm! Try your hand at these housekeeping chores and more as you help us clean like a pioneer.” Sessions run from March 21 to March 24, from noon to 3 p.m., free, for all ages.
