MORAN, Albert William

Jan 08, 1920 - Jan 31, 2017

Al was born in rural Manitoba where he lived until age 20 when he moved to Turner Valley Alberta to work in the “oil patch” which became his career for fifty years. In 1964 Al relocated his family from St Albert, Alberta to the Lower Mainland of BC where he lived for over twenty years until he moved to Chilliwack with his second wife Rose. He lived the last eight years of his life in Cloverdale.

Al was predeceased by his siblings, Vincent, Lloyd, and Val, his son Raymond and wives Edna and Rose. Al is survived by his brother Clayton, and children William and Sharon; and seven grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, many nephews and nieces, and many stepchildren and grandchildren.

Al was fond of horses. He raised Kanata ponies and raced pony chuck wagons and chariots. He also raised and raced Standard bred race horses at Cloverdale Raceway. In 1989 his horse Stand By Me won the BC three year old sire stakes for Colts.

Al will be greatly missed by his extended family but we are all comforted by the knowledge that he can now, once again saddle up his favourite pony and ride the prairie the place he likes best.
