MacDONALD, Daisy

Aulay (MacKillop)

Born Baddeck Bay, Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia, on April 30, 1920. Died in Delta Hospital, Ladner, B.C. on May 27, 2009.

Daisy was one of twelve children born to Malcolm and Mary Ann (Minnie) MacKillop. Always creative, she expressed her artistic side by attending art school in Halifax, N.S. She went on to work as a graphic artist for Simpsons in Halifax and later at Eaton's in Victoria, B.C.

Daisy travelled from Nova Scotia to Western Canada to marry Alexander Young (Sandy) MacDonald, also of Baddeck on June 3, 1950. Sandy's career with the Royal Bank of Canada took them around British Columbia to Victoria, to Kelowna, to Kitimat, and the Lower Mainland.

Sandy predeceased Daisy in 2002. Daisy is survived by her daughter Mary MacDonald (Ron Scott) and grandson Lauchlin Johnston (partner

Michael Keane) and her daughter Jean Swift (Stephen) and granddaughters Sarah (Jonathan Bjorgan) and Katie (Travis Orr). She is also survived by one brand new great granddaughter, Evelyn Bjorgan.

Of the twelve MacKillop siblings, Daisy is survived by brothers Allan (Patricia) and Murdock and by sisters Katherine (Reynolds), Florence (Goad) and Muriel (Kaiser). Being from a large extended family, she is also survived by many cousins, nieces and nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.

A memorial tea will be held at Colebrook United Church, 5441 125A Street, Surrey, BC on Saturday, June 6, 2009 at 2pm. Interment will follow at a later date in Greenwood

Cemetery, Baddeck, Nova Scotia.
