Gabrielle Jacquiline YOUNG

January 12, 2007

MOM

Young, Gabrielle Jacquiline, nee Guerra, also known as Betty passed away peacefully at Langley Memorial Hospital Jan.12, 2007 with her children at her side. While the official cause of death was heart failure we know it was broken heart, not a failed one that caused her death. Her husband (Glen) of 53 years passed away 51 days before her on Nov.22. She waged the most courageous of battles, but left this world behind to be with Glen.

Predeceased by parents Tomas and Matilda, parents-in-law Earl and Charlotte, sister-in-law Viola and brothers-in-law Fred and Tom. Survived by her children Denise (John), Jim(Dyan), Bob (Anne-Marie), Wendy (Brad), Sandra (Brad), Michael and 9 much loved grandchildren, Dusty, Max, Danielle, Jessie, Ben, Chris, Jackie, Nicholas, Quinn, her dear sister Denise, in-laws Jack and Sheila, Grant and Sue and many nieces and nephews. Gabrielle was born in Ghent, Belgium on June 26th, 1933. Mom's formative years were spent surviving the 6 years of occupation and bombings of WW2. Her Dad died just as the war was ending and so in 1946, along with her Mother, they followed sister Denise to Canada and the promise of a new life. It was in a logging camp on Vancouver Island where Mom met the handsome, strapping young man that would become her husband. Her life revolved around the family and we all feel like no child could ever have had a more loving, supportive and nurturing upbringing. We will always remember her loving smile and her endearing spirit.

As Mom was a huge Canucks fan, in lieu of flowers, donations in Gabrielle's memory can be made to the Canucks for Kids Fund. An open house, to celebrate Gabrielle's life will be held January 27th between 3-6 PM at 15030-101 Ave.
