John (Manos) Manolopoulos

May 24, 1935 - October 26, 2005

John Manolopoulos (Manos) passed away peacefully on October 26, 2005 at Maple Hill Hospice in Langley, surrounded by his loving family. John was born in Patras, Greece in 1935 and he came to Canada in 1960. Throughout his battle with cancer, he did not lose his courage, good nature and humor. John can be remembered dancing the Hasapiko. He loved life and had the ability to make those around him laugh and be light. He was known to many as the 'candyman' and never failed to pull out an ouzo-flavored candy for anyone anywhere. He will be missed deeply by his son Chris Manolopoulos and wife Olga, daughter Katherine De Vita, and their mother Loula Manolopoulos, his grandchildren, Antonia and Matteo De Vita and his companion Jean Singh. Family in Greece including brother Spiros and Evanthia Manolopoulos, sister Litsa and Tom Togias, sister-in-law Alexandra Manolopoulos and their families. A private family funeral was held. The Celebration of John's life will be held at Newlands Golf and Country Club in Langley on November 16, 2005 from 2:00 - 5:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, it would be appreciated for all donations to be sent to John's favorite charity, Pacific Riding Association for the Disabled (PRDA), 1088 - 208th St., Langley, B.C. V2Z 1T4.

John, your sweetness of spirit is still felt, and you will never be forgotten. Go on home and meet up with your mother, father and younger brother. We will meet and dance the Hasapiko once again.
