July 4, 2006

DREW, Marjorie (Peggy) Born in Toronto April 16/31, died July 4/06 in the Langley Hospice with family by her side. She leaves behind her loving children, daughter Nancy Gunn, sons Bruce, Graham (Wanda), & David Drew (Sharon), stepson Colin Horrobin (Judy), 9 grandkids, & older sisters, Joan Rigby of Gibsons & Eunice Nakken of Langley. Peggy was a journalist in Toronto before moving to BC in 1952, where she was an Editor for Home & Garden & BC Lumberman magazines in the late 1950’s. For over 25 yrs she shared her time & knowledge in both Toronto & BC as a Leader with the Girl Guides of Canada. Upon moving to Cloverdale in 1968, with Bruce as incentive, she was an advocate for the Mentally Handicapped, first volunteering at the Peter Pan School for Children which led to her job as Administrator of Clover Valley Industries, a workshop for Adults. She was a member of the Cloverdale Board of Trade & held several positions with the BC Ass’n for Rehab Prof. & received a Fellowship from the Ntl Board of CARP. She met many great people through her affiliations & retired in 1993 as Mgr of Programme Services for the Surrey Ass’n for Community Living. Mom was driven no matter what she put her hands in, be it work, volunteering or presiding over her Strata council. Mom did it all, above & beyond countless hours put into the moral support of her family & friends. We miss her dearly, & know we are better people because of her. Our deepest gratitude to her Dr’s & the staff & volunteers at the Langley Hospice. You helped all of us during a very difficult time. A celebration of Mom’s life will be held Wed. July 19th from 2-5pm at Sunrise Banquets, 5640-188th St. Surrey, BC. In lieu of flowers, we encourage donations in Peggy’s name to: Langley Hospice Society, 20088-40A Ave., Langley V3A 2Y6.
