MANYK, Phyllis Irene (nee Nichols)

Phyllis passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Friday, November 27, 2009 at Laurel Place Hospice in Surrey, BC. She is survived by her three children Leigh (Laura) Manyk of Kelowna BC, Jay (Debra) Manyk of Peace River, Ab, and Kathy Manyk (Ron Kabotoff) of Spruce Grove, Ab as well as 5 grandchildren. Phyllis was predeceased by her husband, and the love of her life, George Manyk in 1982.
Phyllis was born in Truro, NS. After marrying George, the couple came back to live in his home province of Alberta. Over the years Phyllis and George lived in various cities in western Canada until they settled in Surrey in 1977.
Phyllis had a great love for nature and the outdoors. In particular, she had a passion for birds, trees, and flowers. Phyllis immensely enjoyed traveling and had a strong connection with the Pacific Rim area, especially Cox Bay. Phyllis was an avid Bridge player and was also a regular volunteer at the Community Thrift Store in Surrey. Most of all Phyllis thoroughly enjoyed a sense of humor, laughter, and
time with her friends and family - She will be missed.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Laurel Place Hospice, Surrey, BC. A Celebration of Life was held at Crossroads United Church on December 1, 2009 at 3pm.
