Ronald WALTON

March 28, 2005

WALTON, Ronald Lawrence

Died peacefully at Peace Arch Hospital on March 28th, after a lengthy illness. He was 74. Ron was born and raised on the Canadian Prairies, and the memories of that place and upbringing were an integral part of who he was. In the early fifties, he served as a radio operator in Germany and Holland with the US Army before starting a family with his wife Susan. Although work and family brought the Waltons to a number of cities throughout the US, they eventually settled in Surrey, BC in 1970. After a career as an engineer, Ron worked in real estate until his retirement. He enjoyed writing, reading literature and listening to fine music, and was an active Freemason for many years. The Walton family lost their mother, Susan in 1988. During his later years, Ron wrote and photographed for Merritt and Logan Lake Newspapers, while continuing to deliver sage advise to his grown children. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife Diane, children Jean, Nancy and Jack. Grandchildren Justine and Casey, brother Ted and children-in-law Mary, Richard and Kim.

A memorial service will be held at Valleyview Funeral Home in Surrey on Saturday, April 2nd at 2:30 pm. Donations to the Canadian Cancer Society will be appreciated in lieu of flowers.
