GLEN - Ruth Ethel Victoria
July 10, 1912 - June 10, 2006
Passed away peacefully in the presence of her daughter, immediately following a heart attack while in Peace Arch Hospital, White Rock, B.C. Ruth was predeceased by her husband Arthur. Ruth will be sadly missed by her son Barry Glen (Irene), daughter Victoria Jones (Peter), grandchildren Caroline, Simon, Ian, Eileen, great-grandchildren Jessica and Jaime (twins), sister Joan Cochrane, brother-in-law Graham MacKinnon and by nieces, cousins and many dear friends far and wide. Ruth was the third daughter of George and Jessie Eillis and was born in Oak Bay, Victoria, B.C. where the family lived for a brief time before returning to London, Ontario. After moving to Vancouver in 1946, Ruth and her husband Art spent many years in West Point Grey where they were active in school, church and community affairs. Ruth, a sweet and beautiful lady will be remembered most for her kindness, generosity of spirit and the ease with which she made life-long friends. A memorial service will be held at Crescent United Church 2756-127th Street in South Surrey near Crescent Beach, Saturday, June 24th at 2:00 p.m. with a reception to follow. In lieu of flowers it was Ruth's request that donations be made in her memory to First United Church in Vancouver, B.C. The family wishes to recognize the staff at Whitecliff who helped make Ruth's last years so happy, with a special thanks to friend Evelina Irish. They thank Dr. Melodie Herbert, Bob Herbert and Dr. Geraldine Daniel as well as the staff of Peace Arch Hospital who gave her such good care.
