GRANT, Violet A. Vi passed away on the morning of May 2nd, 2006 at Surrey Memorial Hospital where she had been for a number of weeks recovering from surgery following a fall at her home in Surrey in March this year. She was in her 85th year and passed away peacefully, now finally at rest. Vi was predeceased by her parents, Peter and Elsie Grant, late of Vancouver, and is survived by her sister, Patricia Macdonald Grant, also of Surrey, and cousins and other relatives both in Canada and in the United Kingdom. One of Vi's treasured pastimes for much of her life was genealogy and she knew the precise location of most of her family who were part of the Grant clan.
Born in Montreal, the Grants made their home in Vancouver after moving to British Columbia in 1950. Both Violet and Patricia have lived and made their home in the Delta Surrey area since their move from the City following their parents' death in the 1980's. Many of their friends remained in Vancouver and newer ones are in their neighbourhood. Following cremation, a memorial service will be held in Vi's honour and memory at St. John's / Strawberry Hill United Church, 7655-120th Street, Delta, on Thursday, May 11th, beginning at 4:00 o'clock in the afternoon. A reception will follow.
