A home-grown gift and craft fair is back this Friday and Saturday, offering a taste of the variety of goods available at a larger Christmas market to local shoppers.
There will be more than 70 vendor tables to browse at the fourth annual Christmas in Cloverdale Gift and Craft Market.
It runs Nov. 30 from 5 to 9 p.m. and Dec. 1 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Shannon Hall and the Alice McKay building at the Cloverdale Fairgrounds (6050 176 Street, Surrey).
The annual gift and craft fair was founded in 2009 by Cloverdale’s Heather Harasymow, a resident who wanted to provide shoppers south of the Fraser with the variety of a large Christmas market – without having to cross a bridge.
She promises you’ll find the perfect gift for those hard-to-buy-for people on your list.
It’s family-friendly, too, so bring the kids along. In addition to face-painting, children can visit with Santa and enjoy magic performances by Joseph the Magician, who will also be making balloon animals. There’s will also be door prizes.
Admission is free, but please bring a non-perishable food item or new, unwrapped gift for the Surrey Food Bank.
The marketplace features everything from glass works, handmade and organic soaps and spa products, to hand knitted scarves, hats, and home baked goods. This year there will be some truly unique items on display, including leather goods made from “up-cycled” leather, beauty products, handmade jewelry, watches, original paintings, baby clothes and more.
