Last Friday (April 11), 18-year-old Easter Seals Ambassador Nathan Shipley was on hand at a Surrey Safeway store to officially kick off the Safeway/Easter Seals Send Kids to Camp Campaign.

Shipley has attended Easter Seals Camp Squamish each year since he was eight.

"To me, camp means fun, meeting and hanging out with people that also use wheelchairs, getting a chance to do new things, and giving his parents a bit of a holiday," Shipley said. "The counsellors are always positive. Disability is always second and the person is first.”

Easter Seals is partnering with Safeway stores in Western Canada from April 11-25, and Safeway customers will be invited to make a donation of $2 at any Safeway store and in return receive five AIRMILES Reward Miles. Last year, $1.2 million was raised during the spring campaign, which helped support important Easter Seals programs throughout Canada.
