The smart fortwo gets reviewed by Vancouver car guy Zack Spencer

Driveway: Review for Smart Fortwo, Toyota Yaris, BMW’s ‘Techno Core’

This week, Zack Spencer takes a look at Smart's 2016 offering – a smooth and steady urban mini.

This week, Zack Spencer review the smart fortwo, while on assignment – with the help of maker Mercedes-Benz – in Portland, Oregon:

“Since Portland is already known for “keeping it weird” it was amazing to see just how much attention this little car got in a city littered with strangely coloured hair, far out fashion, trendy food trucks and more hipster beards than a lumberjack show.

“Over and over, the questions from passers-by asked if we were attending a Smart car convention. Perhaps not surprisingly given there were more than a dozen brightly coloured Smart cars buzzing around the city during the three-week media launch.”

You can read Zack’s full review of Smart’s 2016 offering – a “lifestyle choice”-type vehicle, which is currently in Portland’s Car2Go ride-sharing program – on DrivewayCanada.ca.

BMW 7 Series

On assignment in New York City – the “Big Apple” – Bob McHugh takes a look at BMW’s 2016 7 Series – “a sixth generation edition of the brand’s big, flagship sedan.”

“The new styling is another evolutionary step and still instantly recognizable as a BMW. Dimensionally this car is the same as the outgoing model, yet it has a radically new and innovative sub-structure.

“… Today, much is unique to the 7 series but, figuratively speaking, tomorrow it will spread through the range and the day after it will doubtless be coming to a car near you!

“The new 7 Series offers a showcase of the very latest technologies that BMW has to offer, combined with more advanced forms of technologies already available. Sadly, a novel driverless “self-parking” technology (controlled by the key fob and available in Europe) has not (yet) received Canadian regulatory approval. A similar (delayed approval) story also applies to a new adaptive LED headlight option.”
