The prospect of opening her own gymnastics club seems like a dream come true for Cloverdale’s Kim Askin.

That made it easy to come up a name for her bold new venture, Dreams Gymnastics Inc., a sport and fitness centre holding its grand opening Feb. 5.

Askin, owner and CEO, is a former gymnast who’s a familiar face in Surrey. She’s worked at several gymnastics clubs as well as for Surrey Parks and Recreation, building a solid reputation with families she’s worked with at all locations, says Askin, a mother of two who’s coached for 12 years. Her daughter Jessica, 18, will be the office manager and Hip Hop instructor at Dreams.

They’ll offer beginner to advanced gymnastics programs for ages 1 to 12 years of age, along with rhythmic gymnastics and activities, Hip Hop, drop in, birthday parties and camps.

For now, the club is offering recreational programs, but Askin hopes to one day expand to competitive programs, too.

The club also has a workout area for parents, enabling them to watch their child while getting their own workout in.

The grand opening is an open house-style event running from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Feb. 5. It's located at 301 - 14770 64 Avenue in Surrey.

Classes start Feb. 6.
