The RCMP 'E' Division headquarters in Green Timbers has won the President’s Trade Award in the VRCA Awards of Excellence.

Two projects located in Surrey have received Silver Awards of Excellence from the Vancouver Regional Construction Association (VRCA).

These projects are:

• Surrey Service Centre (Award: Electrical Contractor up to $2 Million)

• RCMP “E” Division Headquarters Relocation (Award: President’s Trade Award)

On Thursday, Oct. 17, one Silver Award winner from each category will be chosen as the Gold Award winner during the 25 Annual VRCA Awards of Excellence gala dinner at the Vancouver Convention Centre.

“The Silver Award winners this year all represent companies that were able to bring projects of the highest calibre in on time and on budget,” says Jan Robinson, interim president of Vancouver Regional Construction Association.

In this year’s competition, there were 42 total entrants and 38 projects considered. Over the 25 years the competition has been in place, the value of the projects has grown tremendously, and the total value of projects considered in this year’s competition represented $1.1 billion of construction throughout B.C.

Three Silver Award winners were selected in most categories for their use of innovative techniques, new materials or exceptional project management.

One Silver Award winner from each category will be chosen as the Gold Award winner during the gala.

“The judges were extremely impressed with the high quality of the projects nominated this year,” says Tony Everett, chair of the Adjudication Committee. “All the Silver Award winners are true leaders in the industry, and we are proud to honour them at this year’s milestone event.”

With close to 700 members, VRCA is British Columbia’s largest and most inclusive regional construction association, representing union and non-union, general and trade contracting companies, manufacturers, suppliers and other professionals throughout the Lower Mainland from Hope to Whistler.
