On Aug, 15, Staples delivered $18,000 worth of school supplies to the Surrey School District to kick off the seventh annual Stuff the Bus campaign.
Stuff the Bus is a program that was initiated with the goal of providing children in the community with much-needed school supplies. The Surrey School District has partnered with Staples Canada and Guildford Town Centre for Stuff the Bus.
“The Stuff the Bus program is a way for everyone in our community, whether as an individual, family or business, to come together and do something positive for Surrey” says Peggy White, general manager, Guildford Town Centre. “We are extremely happy to be able to help students in need."
Working together with the school district and having Staples Canada on board has significantly increased the number of children that will be helped. In the past three years, Stuff the Bus raised almost $50,000 in supplies and donations.
"It is so great to see our community assisting disadvantaged and struggling families in such an important way as supporting a child’s education,” says Surrey Board of Education Chair Laurae McNally. “On behalf of the Surrey Board of Education, I thank the businesses that continue to support this initiative and all those who donate to the Stuff the Bus campaign – you are making a difference."
By way of this program, generous supporters will once again have the opportunity to help the children in the Surrey community. Until Sept. 17, customers are invited to make a cash donation or drop off school supplies at Staples on King George Boulevard or Staples in South Surrey as well as at Guildford Town Centre. These donations and school supplies will then be distributed by the Surrey School District to the schools and families that need it most.
