Surrey's economic concerns heard by Ottawa

Surrey Board of Trade met Thursday with federal Minister of State and Chief Government Whip Gordon O'Connor regarding economic policies.

O'Connor, Minister came to Surrey to conduct a pre-budget economic roundtable discussion with business people in the community. The Surrey Board of Trade shared comments with regards to the Canadian government's economic policies. O'Connor has committed to share the board's views with the prime minister and Finance Minister Jim Flaherty's offices upon his return to Ottawa.

The issues raised included the Renovation Tax Credit, addressing copyright laws that will help to reduce federal government deficit, the HST, post-secondary education, skills shortages, demographic shift and reducing corporate taxes.
