Tammy Emo and her 11-month-old daughter Anwen play with homemade toys – plastic containers used as drums and a can filled with marbles – during Baby Play Date at the George Mackie Library in North Delta last Thursday (Sept. 11).

The event featured simple hands-on (no tech) activities for playing with your baby, while encouraging early literacy.

The program was offered in all three Delta Libraries.

Child development and health care professionals from Public Health Dental Program, Childcare Options, Delta Community Literacy Committee and a Speech-Language Pathologist from Fraser Health were also on hand to answer questions and provide information.
