Hoop shot charity event raises money for schools in Surrey and across the country.

Kwantlen Park Secondary student Stella M. shoots free-throws with the help of Special Education Assistant practicum student Zayn Dean during the Best Buddies “Hooping it Up” event at the school on May 4.

Taking place at more than 150 schools across the country, the basketball-themed event gave students with special needs the chance to shoot baskets alongside their classmates, all in an effort to raise funds for charity.

For a $2 entry fee, three national grand prizes of $500 are awarded to the top shooters, as well as individual prizes for participating schools. Last year the program raised $25,000 for schools across the country.
