A local fisherman wades into the Fraser River at Brownsville Bar in North Surrey on Thursday morning attempting to land a pink salmon.

Recreational angling for chinook, pink and chum salmon is now open below Mission, and pink and chum fishing are allowed above Mission.

First Nations also have the go-ahead to fish for chinook, chum and pink on the lower Fraser Riverfor food, social and ceremonial purposes.

A limited commercial fishery for pinks is also expected.
