SOAR Philanthropic Society gives out five $1

SURREY — The SOAR Philanthropic Society awarded five $1,000 scholarships during a recent gala at Surrey City Hall that drew some 200 guests.

Scholarships were based on academics, adversity, community leadership, the arts and sports.

SOAR is a registered non-profit organization.

The 2015 SOAR Adversity Scholarship went to Natalie Morrison and Ruvini Amarasekera received the scholarship for academics. Kevin Dhir received the 2015 SOAR Community Leadership Scholarship, and Savannah Way received the scholarship for visual arts.

Kerman Pannu received the 2015 SOAR Athletics and Sportsmanship Scholarship.
