Call it a night of fitness for fundraising.
On Friday (June 7), another Zumbathon for Cancer event happens at Fleetwood Park Secondary, where instructor Elaine Chong will again lead a gym full of people through a workout starting at 7 p.m. Doors open at 6 p.m., with raffle prizes drawn after 8 p.m. at the Surrey school.
“I am happy to say that last year I was awarded a very special 10-year plaque from the BC Cancer Foundation,” Chong noted. “They mentioned that we are one of the longest-running fundraisers in Surrey. I’m pretty proud.”
Event details are posted to a Facebook event page, including registration. General admission is $15, or $10 for students.

The group workout has raised more than $63,000 over the past decade, according to Chong, who teaches at Fleetwood Park.
“Every year we seem to outdo ourselves,” she says. “Last year over 200 people united, smiled and sweat together for the cause, collecting over $16,000. Our commitment to fight cancer has not slowed down. On the contrary, our fire has never been brighter. I invite you all to join me on my quest to make this the biggest year yet. I know we can.”
