Future Surrey champions chat with athletes

Bear Creek Elementary students talk with Olympic gold medalist speed skater Francois Hamelin as part of the Classroom Champions program.

Students at Bear Creek Elementary chatted with Canadian Olympic gold medalist speed skater Francois Hamelin online Wednesday (Nov. 18) as part of the Classroom Champions program.

As part of the program, each month athletes discuss goal setting, honesty, perseverance, team work and healthy living with the students.

“This class helped me understand that I can actually complete my dreams,” said student Antonia Pavez, 12, “that it’s not just an idea – that it can actually happen.”
