'Good Vibrations' showcases music, dance

WHITE ROCK - Music and dance are the focus of a new art exhibit at White Rock Community Centre.

The group show Good Vibrations: Music and Dance in Art opened Saturday and continues until April 17. All of the 16 artists used music and/or dance as inspiration in a variety of mediums, including mixed media, pastels, ink, acrylic and oil.Vanessa Lam earned first prize and $55 for The Grand Optimist, while Karen Holland took second prize and $30 for The Hills Are Alive - at Sunset. Third prize and $10 went to Karin Olsson for SpanishDancer 1 and 2. At the conclusion of the exhibit, a people's choice award will be given to the artist who receives the most votes from the general public.It's all part of the Art on Display program, created in partnership with the City of White Rock and Semiahmoo Arts in an effort to ensure art is visible and accessible to the community. The series includes five to eight themed, juried exhibitions held throughout the year.White Rock Community Centre is located at 15154 Russell Ave.
