The produce is back in North Delta, starting this Sunday.
“Our Sunday Farmers’ Market is returning for its second summer, to serve both the Surrey and North Delta communities,” says Firehall Farmers’ Market organizer Anne Janzen.
Located at The Firehall Centre for the Arts (11489 84 Ave.), the market offers fresh produce from local growers, food trucks, luscious baked goods, live entertainment and artisan crafts.
“The Firehall Farmers’ Market in North Delta is an event that is making a difference in our community,” says Delta Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Ian Tait. “From the range of enticing vendors to the tasty offerings from the food trucks there’s something for everyone’s taste, budget and interest.
“We congratulate the chamber’s newest member – Farm Fresh Events – for creating attractions that help residents and visitors alike to shop local, stay local, eat local and play local in Delta.”
The event runs May 25 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. – extended hours on opening day – and will run every second Sunday throughout the summer.
The next dates are June 8 and 22, July 6 and 20, Aug. 3, 17 and 31, and Sept. 14 (all from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.)
The opening day coincides with the Watershed Artworks Society’s annual “Whole Lot of Art” market, with works created by the more than 40 participants with the Watershed Artworks Society.
There will be pottery, paintings, photography, jewelry, fabric arts, woodwork, glassware (stained, blown, fused, painted and etched), clothing (knit, woven, dyed, silkscreened and painted), home and garden decor, and greeting cards from the members of North Delta’s Watershed Gallery.
There is free parking at the North Delta Recreation Centre, and pets on a leash are welcome.
