The Surrey Urban Mission has been open to accommodate neighbors in Surrey who don't have a place to stay at night during the recent cold weather, and has accommodated up to 67 guests at a time.
They have also served thousands of meals in their new kitchen.
For the second year, Surrey Urban Mission is participating in a national walk to raise funds for programs that serve people who are homeless.
The Coldest Night of the Year Walk 2014 takes place Feb 22 at 6 p.m. at 10776 King George Blvd.
Registration for the 2K, 5K or 10K walk begins at 4:30 p.m.
Volunteers are appreciated.
To register online, visit http://coldestnightoftheyear.org/location/surrey and click on Surrey to register.
The goal of the event is to raise $25,000 for Surrey Urban Mission programs.
Remember to dress warmly.
