It's sickening that mayors push tax hike after elections

White Rock - The Editor, I protest the use of taxpayers' money for "robocalls" that advertise the nondemocratic process of Surrey Mayor Linda Hepner pushing the "Yes" side of the referendum while ignoring the "No" side.

This is not democracy when only one side is presented. If you want to raise the money for this initiative, first cut the bloated salaries and excessive top heavy management at TransLink. A token firing of the CEO doesn't cut it, especially when he is still on the payroll.I will vote "No" matter what you put out there as you have not proven that another ridiculous tax increase will do anything more.TransLink's current surcharge on Metro Vancouver petrol was lauded as the "be all, fix all" so why have the mayors not succeeded in proper planning and implementation of the solutions already? You have more than enough taxpayer money already and it is just sickening that you come out right after the elections with your hand out for more. And as an added affront to our intelligence, you come out together as a group and threaten us with increasedproperty taxes if you people don't get what you want - that is pure balderdash.Garry Wolgemuth, White Rock
