Appraiser Jeff Harris will be at the May 31 Antiques off the Roadshow event.

To give a hint of what could happen, in recent years, a helmet thought to be from the First World War was brought in, and turned out to be a valuable, authentic Roman-era helmet.

Care to try your luck?

Rummage through the attic, check out the storage area in the garage, and gather up the old gold jewelry for the 10th-annual Surrey Antiques off the Roadshow at the Surrey Art Gallery on May 31 from 12-3 p.m.

The items will be given a verbal appraisal by experts – Linda Devine, June Harris and Jeff Harris – who are knowledgeable about jewelry, antiques, collectibles, antiquarian books, and Asian, European and First Nations art.

The appraisers will ask questions such as “Where did the item come from?”, “How much did you pay for it?,” “Is it a family heirloom?,” and “What do you know about its history?”

The cost is $10 for the first item and $5 for each additional item.

This is a drop-in event; registration is not required. Observers are welcome. This event is sponsored by Surrey Art Gallery Association.

Surrey Art Gallery is located at 13750 88 Ave. For more information, call 604-501-5566.
