Surrey Grade 10 student Tanraj Sohal, 15, has won the 2012 Canadian Chess Championship in his grade level – for the seventh time – at the Canadian Chess Challenge in Nova Scotia.
Sohal had a perfect score of 9/9 by defeating every one of nine other provincial champions. Earlier, he won the Fraser Valley Regionals in Surrey and the B.C. Provincial Chess Championship in Victoria.
