"When an injury begins to impact someone's happiness, they need help. The quicker they get treatment, the easier it is to restore tissue and promote healing."

- Dr. Rob Skleryk

From conventional and alternative therapies to medications, creams and gels, after considering the other options for pain relief, patients are turning to LaserHealth Solutions.

Low intensity laser therapy came into the thriving Panorama Chiropractic practice ten years ago when Dr. Rob Skleryk and his wife Dr. Y.Y. Ng-Skleryk were the first in BC to introduce the Bioflex cold laser treatments.

"Low intensity laser follows the same principles as chiropractic," Dr. Rob said. "It is a non-drug, non-surgical method to help the body heal itself. We were trained by Dr. Fred Kahn who established the technology."

Ideal for those with arthritis, rotator cuff issues, sport or car accident injuries, plantar fasciitis, headaches, sciatica, chronic degenerative conditions and more, laser compliments chiropractic, kinesiology and the other treatment options offered at LaserHealth Solutions. The low intensity laser works to reduce inflammation and pain while speeding up the healing process by introducing red and infrared light and special wavelengths into the body.

"Because this isn't masking or hiding the injury, it isn't necessarily immediate," Dr. Rob noted. "It can take a few treatments to see changes and we have seen some amazing success stories,"

With more than 500 patient testimonials on the website at www.laserhealth.ca, it's easy to see how the success ripples through the Surrey and two Calgary LaserHealth Solutions locations.

"The great thing with laser is we can start treatment right away," said Dr. Rob. "Some times, acute injuries are too painful to be touched, we can use the laser to ease that discomfort."

Everyone's needs are different and what works for one patient may not for another.

"Obviously we can't cure degenerative conditions like arthritis," noted Dr. Rob. "But we can give the patient their life back by reducing the pain, perhaps putting surgery off and in many cases allowing a reduction in pain medications."

Dr. Rob, Dr. Y.Y. and their team can treat each patient individually because they spend a great deal of time listening. They explore the patient's issues to gain understanding of core concerns and the impact of them.

"When an injury begins to impact someone's happiness, they need help," Dr. Rob said. "The quicker they get treatment, the easier it is to restore tissue and promote healing."

Patients usually start off with 10 pre-scheduled treatments then, once complete, the program is re-evaluated. Dr. Rob notes about 80% of patients notice significant improvement after five or six treatments.

Because the Skleryk's spend as much time in their office as their South Surrey home, they designed a welcoming environment for everyone's greatest comfort. They offer six laser machines, three chiropractic treatment rooms and all the amenities and technology their patients need.

"Some good treatment practices never change, but methods do," Dr. Rob said. "We ensure the entire team stays current with regular training and we incorporate new things into the office environment for our patients."

Another way Dr. Rob and Dr. Y.Y. keep patients engaged is by working with family Doctors to share information. They also host monthly education workshops to teach the community about low intensity laser therapy.

"It's exciting and a challenge to have someone come in and tell us what they've been going through," Dr. Rob noted. "When we can zero in on a treatment program and see them improve it's really exciting."
