Healthy aging is important for everyone, and it is essential not to forget the health of your brain as well, says the non-profit Alzheimer Society of B.C.
To encourage Delta residents to protect and maintain the health of their brain, the Society will run a free workshop, Understanding Dementia and Brain Health, on Thursday, Jan. 26 from 11:15 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. at McKee Seniors’ Recreation Centre, 5155 47 Ave. in Ladner.
"In just two hours, participants will learn about Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias, as well as strategies for improving the health of their mind, body and spirit," says Anthony Kupferschmidt, the society's regional support and education coordinator.
Anyone interested in brain health is welcome to attend.
Seats are limited, so pre-registration is strongly encouraged. For more information and to register, call 604-238-7390 or e-mail anthonyk@alzheimerbc.org. Admission is by donation.
The workshop is free thanks to partial funding by RBC Foundation, Pfizer Canada Inc., Novartis Pharmaceuticals Canada Inc., The Lohn Foundation, The Frank and Yvonne McCracken Foundation, The Province of B.C., The Provincial Employees Community Services Fund and The Phyliss and Irving Snider Foundation.
