LETTER: By definition, throwing more cash at TransLink is simply insane

The Editor,

Insanity has often been described as doing the same thing over and over while expecting a different result.

Over the past 15 years, the property tax levy for Greater Vancouver Transportation Authority/TransLink has risen by more than 60 per cent. TransLink's fuel tax ensures that our fuel is among the costliest in Canada. We have a levy on BC Hydro bills. Single zone fares have risen by almost 60 per cent over the past 10 years. And we are blessed with the highest parking tax that I know of.

Now we are being asked to empty another pocket with a 0.5 per cent sales tax increase.

The answer to congestion relief is not to throw more money at TransLink and expect a different result. That would be insane.
