LETTER: Free speech to a point

The Editor,

Re: "Free speech can coexist with deeply held beliefs," the Now editorial, Jan. 8. I agree with your analysis and conclusion that a balance needs to be struck between free speech and deeply held religious beliefs. Both in Canada and the U.S. the courts have said that there is no absolute free speech.

The balance which needs to be struck here are the sensibilities of the more than one billion Muslims on this planet.

They are not all terrorists. Thus mocking and denigrating Prophet Mohammad is off limits.
