Rykuiter walked in memory of her husband Joe, who had Alzheimer's disease.

A possibly record-setting 400 volunteers and supporters took part in the walk, which is a fundraiser for the Alzheimer Society of B.C.

"We also want to thank all the people who came out and supported us on May 1," said Avalon Tournier, support and education coordinator at the Alzheimer Society of B.C.

"Funds raised support programs and services that improve the quality of life for people living with dementia and their families in (the) community. They will also go towards funding vital research into the causes and cure (of Alzheimer's disease.)"
