New boss for RCMP's Newton District Office

NEWTON - Sergeant Parm Prihar has been named the new commander for Surrey RCMP's Newton District Office.

Prihar brings 21 years of policing experience to Newton, with an extensive background in patrol and serious crime.

"I am proud to be part of this community and confident that, with the public's support, we can make Newton an even better place to live, work and play," said Prihar.

Bill Fordy, Surrey RCMP's Chief Superintendent, said Prihar is well-suited to oversee the Newton office.

"I believe his interpersonal skills and breadth of experience will be an asset to the district and the dedicated and passionate residents of Newton."

The previous Newton commander, Sgt. Marc Searle, has been assigned to work with the Community Services Officer at the main detachment.
