Coast Mental Health has launched a call for nominations for the 2012 Courage To Come Back Awards. The awards provide a chance for people in communities across British Columbia to recognize someone who has overcome adversity and made a difference in the lives of others.

One nominee will be chosen in each of the following categories: Addiction, medical, mental health, physical rehabilitation, social adversity and youth (under 22 years as of Dec. 31, 2011).

Recipients will be celebrated at a gala dinner in Vancouver on May 17, 2012 at the Vancouver Trade and Convention Centre West, 1055 Canada Place.

“Courage Award recipients are people who demonstrate extraordinary character in facing challenges that most of us can’t even imagine,” says Lorne Segal, awards chair. “When people are nominated for a Courage Award, they sometimes realize for the first time the difference they are making to others. That, in facing their own challenges, they are helping others face theirs.”

Nomination forms are available at any Scotiabank branch in B.C. or online at www.couragetocomeback.ca.

The deadline for nominations is Monday, Feb. 20.
