Surrey’s new city hall hosted the Media Arts Mehfil May 30, in a kickoff event for the 10th anniversary of the City of Bhangra Festival (which concluded June 7).
The term “mehfil†refers to an evening of entertainment in an intimate setting. In a twist on tradition, the catered gathering brought together new collaborations “grounded in an emphasis on improvisation and a sense of play,†with the NAAD Foundation, Rup Sidhu and others in attendance.
