The Peace Arch Hospital Foundation (PAHF) Great Pumpkin Run Walk raised more than $40,000 for the new Generations Playground last Sunday.
“Mother Nature blessed us again this year with sunny skies,” PAHF executive director Stephanie Beck said in a news release. “It was a little foggy in the morning but that didn’t deter our caring and generous community from coming out early on a Sunday morning to support our vision of making White Rock and South Surrey the healthiest community possible.”
Participants, many in costume, ran or walked the five-kilometre or one-kilometre routes, which started and ended at Bayview Park on Marine Drive.
The top youth fundraiser was Molly Dove ($975), and the top adult fundraiser was Shelley Jackson ($1,405). Top fundraising teams were Living Well Exercise Clinic ($4,150) and the Peace Arch Hospital Cardiac Rehab team ($3,582).
The fastest man through the route was Tyler Wilson, with a time of 18:05, and the fastest woman was Maya Kobylansky with a time of 19:30.
