Poetry contest for the pier’s 100th year

WHITE ROCK – Semiahmoo Arts is organizing a poetry contest to celebrate the 100th anniversary of White Rock’s pier.

The arts council’s “Here’s to the Pier!” contest launched on the first day of summer (June 21) and continues until July 21.

Contest winners will be announced at Party on the Pier, a licensed event to be held on the pier on the evening of Thursday, Aug. 28.

“Tell us why you love (the pier), share your personal memories or describe how it contributes to White Rock’s identity. Shape your thoughts in a poem,” organizers of the contest state in an advisory.

“Our goal is to receive 100 entries – one for every year with the pier.”

Contest details are posted at Semiahmooarts.com.
