Reach Child and Youth Development Society is throwing its 5th annual Reach for the Stars gala on April 8 at the Coast Tsawwassen Inn.
Proceeds benefit Reach’s Building for Children Together campaign, which is responsible for raising the funds needed to make the construction of the new children’s centre across from the Ladner Pioneer Library a reality.
Over the last four years, Reach for the Stars galas have raised $340,000 towards the campaign’s $5.6 million fundraising goal. This year, Reach is hoping to raise $120,000 with the help of individuals and businesses in the community, and Canadian Autoparts Toyota Inc. (CAPTIN) and Port of Vancouver have stepped up to be presenting sponsors of the Grand Gala: Passion for Potential.
Behind the scenes, event volunteers play a massive part in making Reach for the Stars galas happen. Committee volunteers plan the event for months ahead of time as well as manage an abundance of details the night of the event to help ensure its success. When asked why they do it, the response was unanimous: a passion to support the work Reach does for the community, providing services and programs to children with special needs and their families for over 50 years.
The gala will offer heartwarming stories from families who have received help from Reach Society programming, as well as musical entertainment, a three-course seated dinner and live and silent auctions. Kelly Latremouille, morning host on LG104.3 and Delta resident, will MC this year’s event.
