SURREY — A barbecue kickoff event for the Salmon Marshal (SaM) Certification Program was held Tuesday, June 24 at Sullivan Heights Park.

The event was hosted by the Salmon Habitat Restoration Program (SHaRP), a youth environmental program devoted to the promotion of environmental stewardship and sustainability.

The focus of SHaRP is to educate businesses and community members on salmon stewardship while employing local youth to enhance Surrey's fish habitat. See video below.

The SHaRP team is working with the business community to protect and enhance local salmon habitat. "Our Salmon Marshal (SaM) certification program provides an avenue for businesses to become greener in day-to-day operations and be recognized for their efforts so they can become SaM Certified," reads a post on the City of Surrey's website
