Simon Fraser University’s Surrey campus will highlight the many ways the university is involved in the world when it hosts What’s Your LATITUDE? SFU Surrey’s Global Community Open House next month.

The event, which runs March 7 from 4:30-8:30 p.m., includes dozens of interactive exhibits, displays, presentations and workshops. Attendees can expect to see everything from battling robots and a “shaker” car to science experiments and new-age inventions like the stress-relieving sonic cradle.

Also featured will be an engagement zone where visitors can learn how SFU research makes a difference in communities around the world. They can also connect with people from a variety of backgrounds, mark their favourite world locations on a giant map, and answer the question: What’s your LATITUDE?

“This event is all about community, with something for people of all ages,” says Matthew Grant, SFU Surrey director of enrolment and marketing. “This year we’re also focusing on our global community, and SFU’s wide-reaching engagement with the world.

“It’s also a great opportunity for those who haven’t yet visited the campus to see what we have to offer.”

Information about academic programs, student services and admission will also be available for prospective students and their parents.

In addition, the campus will host musical center stage performances and activities for children of all ages, including face painting, crafts and kids and youth zones.

Opened in 2002 and located atop Surrey’s Central City Shopping Centre, SFU Surrey is an architecturally striking and award-winning campus. The campus enjoys a thriving enrolment and continues to expand its wide base of programs in a variety of faculties, aimed at everyone from high-school grads to life-long learners.
