Peace Arch Hospital Foundation’s premier gala event notched a record last weekend, raising $480,000 for a new hospice residence.
“We are overwhelmed with gratitude for our generous donors and sponsors, guests and volunteers for supporting their hospital,” foundation executive director Stephanie Beck said in a news release Monday.
The gala, Le Cirque du Soirée, held Saturday at Centennial Arena, treated guests to an evening complete with acrobats from The Underground Circus, wine fairies, cirque-style performances, strolling tables of champagne, fire dancers and more.
Fred Lee, CBC’s Man About Town, was auctioneer, while a ringmaster served as MC, entertaining the sold-out crowd of 475 guests.
Beck described the event – which was more than six months in the making – as “a way for our community to come together to support health care close to home.”
Foundation board chair Siobhan Philips said it raised the bar.
“Our goal is always to inspire philanthropy, to celebrate with those who share our passion for quality health care, and to throw the best party in town,” Philips said in the release.
