Students across the Surrey school district were busy over the holidays lending a hand wherever necessary.

From Guildford Park to Grandview Heights and many others, school across Surrey were in the giving spirit, hosting fundraising events and helping out at charitable organizations.

Cloverdale Community Kitchen received a large helping of donations thanks to Lord Tweedsmuir Secondary students who ran a hamper drive. This event is described as being very important to the school, as they run it annually, to show "the social responsibility and citizenship of students," the district states.

Guildford Park students studying Humanities gave some of their time to the Surrey Christmas Bureau to help out, while the school's woodworking students made doll cribs for the organization to hand out.

A Polar Pop Up event was also hosted by students, this time from Grandview Heights Secondary, to raise money and collect donations for Surrey Food Bank. And with the icy weather unrelenting, Earl Marriott Secondary students ran their annual winter coat drive to collect warm clothing items for those in need.
