Surrey Now-Leader Community Leader Awards: Meet Aaron Cyr

Cyr's efforts earned an honourable mention for Emergency Services Leader

Emergency Services Leader, honourable mention

Aaron Cyr began his career in emergency services as an on-call firefighter in Abbotsford before joining Surrey Fire Services in 2008.

Over the past 16 years, Aaron has served in numerous capacities.

His dedication to the Surrey Fire Fighters' Charitable Society has seen him volunteer at hundreds of events, including its thrift store, the Break the Ice Hockey Tournament for Mental Health, the charity golf tournament, and the nutritional snack program.

One of his biggest achievements has been strengthening the partnership between the firefighters’ charitable society and Guildford Town Centre.

Cyr said he's "humbled and appreciative" to be recognized among the many members who consistently contributed to making the Surrey Fire Fighters Charitable Society a resounding success, supporting more than 130 different initiatives in the city every year.

"Collaborating with partners like Guildford Town Centre, who are equally passionate about giving back, has been a personal highlight," Cyr said. "Giving back is not only rewarding; it’s a fundamental part of the Fire Service culture. Whether coaching in the community or lending a hand at the Surrey Food Bank, the members of the Surrey Fire Service are there."
