Surrey Now-Leader Community Leader Awards: Meet David Dryden

Dryden's efforts earned an honourable mention in the Coach category

Coach, honourable mention

David is the head coach of the badminton program at Fraser Heights Secondary, where he started helping out shortly after graduating from the school in 2005. In 2009, he took over as head coach, and over the past 14 seasons, he has led the team to seven provincial championships.

He also serves as the district coordinator and zone coordinator and serves on the B.C. School Sports’ advisory committee for badminton.

Dryden noted that badminton is a personal passion – and something that has meant a lot to him throughout his lifetime.

"It is something that has been a big part of my life for many years now," Dryden said. "When you hear or see the positive impact you are making, it reinforces why you keep doing it. And as a competitive sports program, the potential success as an outcome of the hard work is always a bonus."
